Volcanos "all our fault" Official.

Eyælfückingkillyoüåll Eruption yesterday.

"Climate Change could cause more hazardous geological events such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes scientists have warned. In papers published by the (UK) Royal Society, researchers said melting ice, sea level rises, increasingly heavy rains and more frequent storms could affect the earths crust".

WTF? No, sorry, the weather does not affect the earths crust which averages 22 miles solid rock; weather erodes, or 'weathers', it over millenia, even the rise and fall of mountain ranges are marginal.

Give me fucking strength; that little gem appeared on the inside of mondays Telegraph, I expect they made it up for a bit of a laugh. My 'O' level Geology tells me what nonsense it is but, just for starters Royal Society, where was 'AGW' when Pompeii and Herculaneum got pyroclastered? Just how in thrall to the climate alarmists are the supposed scientists to produce such utter tripe, even Al Gore would be embarrassed about that.

Hey, America, it's coming your way!

Oh Mr Banned, how good it is to have you back and in such fine form. I have just pebble-dashed my monitor with biscuit and coffee upon reading that.

I was wondering when we were going to get the blame.

Iranian Imams are blaming women for earthquakes (http://tinyurl.com/y2tyhmn) when everyone knows they're caused by dams (http://tinyurl.com/y58ylm5).

So it is entirely probable, and based on first class science, that human activity is responsible for the present eruption:

Nah - lets just blame the women:0)

Banned, I like your new name for the Volcano.
I hope when it drifts to America, it stays on the East coast.

FYI - http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/news-release/releases/2004/h04-252.htm

Not saying that I necessarily agree with the article and I do not link AGW to recent seismic / tectonic activity, but the link between glacial melt and plate movements has been proposed before now. Ice is heavy!

Thanks for the links Scunnert, Labour and the alarmists must wish the F.O.I. act had never happened.

Glad to have amused you Blind Pugh, the pronunciation arguments got so silly! though it was inevitable Sue

CambridgeLady Ice is indeed heavy, as is water but more so, that is why ice floats upon it.

Bunni, I will get back to you later!

"Ice is indeed heavy, as is water but more so, that is why ice floats upon it."

Ummm yeah .... but we're talking about ice on land masses (plates) that is melting and running off to the sea!! :-O

Bunni that rephrasing occured to me the first time that I saw the real name, I gather that the newsreaders have had problems with the pronunciation. America got off light Bunni, the second Ash Attack never happened becaue we all got bored with the story.

CL, I am not a geologist (see ref. to my school certificate in my post) but the great majority of water lies on the mantle in the form of ice or water with just an itty bit in the air as clouds. I don't think that 22 miles of solid rock cares much what form that H2O is in.

The papers must surely realise how risible their claims are becoming. Perhaps the kickbacks they get from the UN make declining sales worth their while.

Got your note banned. To animate your GIFs, upload them to photobucket. then embed them to blogger like you would a video from youtube.

No .... but melting redistributes that water - that's the key - you suddenly lift a great weight of ice off part of the plate and put it elsewhere. As I said at the start I don't necessary agree with the link I posted - I personally doubt that the effect discussed could have so great an effect but this isn't my area of expertise. I just wanted to point out that what these people are referring to was proposed before recent events and is not related to the weather per se - rather the long term knock-on effects of a warming climate.

Laughed me leg off, mate, they are so clutching at straws! :-)

Woodie ta for the tip, I used to have a Photobucket account, I'll see what I can do there.

Cambridge Lady I tried to find the link to a discussion on this topic at watsupwiththat but it's late and I couldn't.

Barking and they still are, see my follow up post.
