Happily Shahid Malik is now the UK X-Justice Minister having been tossed aside when the socialists lost power earlier this year.
There was a boy in my class at school called Malik, nice chap, he told us it meant Prince, Owner or some such honorific.

The Conservatives have always been more radical than any other party in that respect. First Jewish PM, first female, first obviously gay one.
You'll get shorter odds on the first black and first Muslim PMs being Tory than Labour.

Hi Eye, Conservatives gave us our first Moslem woman minister too, Baroness Warsi (though she appears to be a placeperson in good old Nu-Labour style).
