"Thanks" is nice

Last Friday (March 25th) UK Daily Telegraph printed a great photo illustrating a story about the Libya No Fly Zone showing a group of Benghazi youths and older men demonstrating in support of the NFZ.
Their placard read

"Thanks to
USA, Canada, UK
Italy. france
(to?)* Save our Country"

* obscured.

I thought it was a really nice gesture and made a pleasant change from us being the great or lesser Satan. I had been hoping to share it with you and have been searching the Telegraph site which has dozens of photos of things being blown up and Cameron looking important, but in vain because they are such slackers.

Banned, It sounds great and am sure the MSM will lick it up, but lets be real here.

Devil worshippers are just that and the quaran commands them to lie.

I appreciate you as a Free Friend and respect you to the highest, but if this is not sarchasm do not believe it!

That must have been a Christian trapped in country.

Thanks is such a rare word nowadays isn't it?

Chris, it might interest you to know that the people of Benghazi are descendents of the Greek province of Cyrenaica while Tripoli is a relic of Carthage whose founders came from what is now Lebanon and as such they formed two entirely different societies for 2,000 years until cobbled together by that clown Mussolini after Italy grabbed the north African leftovers once we, the French and the Spanish taken the best bits for civilising.

There is a reason why the US Marine Hymn does not mention "The shores Of Benghazi", that's because piracy was a Tripoli thing.

I believe that this is the real basis of this revolt and, incidentally, the 1,200 miles of sand between Benghazi and Tripoli is why Rommel and his Afrika Corps came to grief during WW2. ie, it is do-able at the 'cost' of splitting Libya in two, and why not?

Hi Woodsie, see my response to Chris above, it was not their fault that they got conquered by the Arabs and forcibly converted to Islam. They were Christian lands for centuries prior to that.

Quite so Dioclese which is why I thought it worthy of note and why I am disappointed that the Telegraph could not be bothered to archive it.

Great history lesson Banned and thank you!

But even so, a "thank you" from any of that crowd is really meaningless to me.

I don't believe anything they "say".
Actions speak louder than words!

You are quite the historian, Banned. Thanks for the helpful lesson.
