Coptic riots, a Moslem view

Those who worry that the Egyptian revolution is merely a cover for hardline Islamists might see last weekends trouble in Cairo as some sort of Militant Islamic attack on Christians in pursuance of the same cause.

A Moslem blogger that I follow sees it as a conservative move by Egyptian security services (SCAF) and an attempt by them to creat discord in order to bolster their own position.
In his first post for a month Sandmonkey
describes the events thus

On Tuesday I roared across town and idly noticed that "they" had done yet more alterations to that end of the High Street that they keep fucking up. This time where the Taxi rank used to be they had daubed double yellow lines and the extra upright lines on the kerb which means "Super NO PARKING", plus some strange black and white chequerboad on the kerbstones "Supa Ultra + NO PARKING" ? though I've never seen that in the Highway Code. Oh dear, they've shifted the Taxi rank even further away from the pedestrianised area and the multiple bus stops too. My, how sad that they have also removed those few short term parking bays that were so handy for the disabled and elderly when doing their shopping.

Today, Thursday 29th Sept, I was reading my weekly local paper which had a major article detailing proposed new arrangements for the City Centre which are total bollox and will cause all sorts of problems but never mind because we The Public and our local businesses are going to be "CONSULTED". You know, asked our opinion, do we think it will work, could it be done another way? We are to be consulted for 2 hours one wet and windy evening later in October in a Primary School with no car park and, now, even less on street parking.
The jist of it is to make yet more of the City car free which I don't have a problem with since it was car free from Roman times until quite recently.

Hold on, thinks I; they have already created all the infrastructure to enforce their stupid new scheme. What sort of consultation is that? Consultation? Insultation more like!

to infiltrate and stir up green activists.

Why would the State want to stir up trouble? The
answer is simple. Violence on the street rouses passion for action in

House of Westminster can now call for European Police to be brought in
to help British police. With British armed forces also being cut,

equivalent of Hitler's Enabling Act) we can all be locked into a

What can we do? Firstly we do not need or want

clampdowns. We play into their hands. Do you want to react then rebel
lawfully. Lawful Rebellion is about acting within the law, and
especially common law to take action. Please visit the British Constitution
Group and Lawful Rebellion to learn more. However, Lawful
Rebellion is not soft. As a simple example, stop paying your council tax
until the State stops breaking our Common Law, and we will hurt the
state far more than kicking in a shop window. You will also not be in
danger of cutting your feet.

If an organisation, group, individual or website
promotes hatred or violence, then it is not part of Lawful Rebellion,
and should be avoided. Strange isn't it though that when 600 people
protested peacefully at Birkenhead, 38 police vehicles were present and
streets were blocked, and a Judge was arrested for conducting an
unlawful court, the BBC failed to report anything. A government
propaganda agency or what? Take care. Be happy. Whilst this corrupt
banking elite and government system is brought to justice."

Appalled at youngsters lack of interest in climate change and greenery the presenter went looking for a solution and found it in academia.
5 Universities, no less, have projects inviting Young People to come up with 'cool gadgets' to get other youngsters engaged and make Green Cool, "that is the key, not us oldies preaching at them". One such gadget places sensors all around the home, these detect the young persons power useage from ipods, X boxes, TVs, phone chargers and, if it decides the Young Person is being Green it lights up a "happy icon" on their Facebook Status page.
How fucking cool is that!!!

Another nerdy child (US Dorky kid) came up with clothing that has photo-electric cells attached to power up your phone on the move. Now it's been some decades since I took an interest in Yoof Fashion but I can imagine no generation that might think it cool to arrive with bits of metal dangling off you and with wires sticking out (post-punk irony perhaps?).

He also found someone who has developed a computer strategy game based on Climate Change and all things Green who again feels that it is important not to lecture Young People but to let them discover for themselves the consequences of mans recklessness through gaming. For instance if the player opts for a strategy of promoting biofuels to stave off peak oil and save the environment that will lead him to discover consequent starvation in the third world but, "oh no, it's not lecturing, they discover it for themselves."
He conceded that he might struggle in a market dominated by the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario Galaxy and World Of Warcraft but thinks that Young People might take it up if they were given it as a present (yeah, just like I was given 'improving' books as a child which went unread).
They managed to corner one child who said that he "might take a look at it to see what he needed to do to "turn the world into a burning hell-hole". His very words, bless.

Britains teenagers have been exposed to warmist bollox their entire lives so todays BBC Radio 4 programme "Cost The Earth" spent half an hour examining the results.

The presenter spoke that "engage the issues" language which I can't be arsed with but he started off by telling us that our teenagers had the advantage of information from television, including the BBCs very own "Eco Beebies", youth groups such as The Scouts, Govt. information campaigns, schools and films like Avatar and some others that I can't remember but also Al Gores 'An Inconvenient Truth' without mentioning that it had been right Royally fisked by our very own High Court.

So then he went out to interview The Kids but all he got was
"Climate change? that's the wevver changin' innit".
(in that nasty London urban guttural that is a symbiosis of faked up Jamaican and Sarf London cockerny) and
" I don' really care 'bout the envirament, I just live me larf from day to day right"

Of course what they really said was

Kerensky and the Liberal middle class 'revolutionaries' were swept aside by not just Socialists but by Lenin and Trotsky who represented a tiny extremist faction within those socialists in furtherance of Total Revolution.

As I coldly struggled home in the dark through the bad streets of my red-brick Victorian suburb where the 10 inches of snow was not 'deep and crisp and even'; it has been reduced to about 2 inches of compacted black-ice pitted and scored with treacherous tyre and footprints. I noticed this chap in jogging gear pussyfooting over an iced up road junction and thought "what a wanker?" Then there was the rather iffy looking bloke who emerged from the siberian Municipal Gardens in a stupid hat, "prick" flashed across my brain before "aaaagh!" I've gone arse over tit crashing to the rock hard pavement smashing my knee and scraping my thigh and hands but luckily no head contact.

Greenies tell many lies; one of these is that fish stocks are depleting in response to so-called climate change and the associated acidification of the oceans but photos can also tell another story.
The UK Daily Telegraph (Dec. 3rd) published a stunning photograph of a salmon by Alex Mustard, Mr Mustard was on the Fraser River in British Columbia to capture on film the biggest salmon migration for 100 years!
Yet on the same day in the same paper that old trout Louise Gray was spouting yet more tosh along the lines of "Salmon rely on tiny shellfish when they go out to sea and feed before returning to rivers like the Tay in Scotland or the Test in Hampshire.
However these sea snails are in danger from ocean acidification (Really, why?).
A United Nations report by the University of Plymouth has warned that fish higher up the food chain like salmon may suffer as a result. If Plymouth was a proper university I might take a bit more notice but probably not because academics are all in on the scam because alarmist reports = more funding.

Mr Bal then told Ms Ramjan-Coley she was ‘obsessed’ with his turban and suggested she get one for herself. To this Ramjam replied ‘I could do with one, I'm having a bad hair day",

Thus far a bit of harmless office banter until Mr Bal took offence. Did he remonstrate with Ms Ramjam or Mr Uddin? No, he sued his employer, Jobcentre Plus, because it seems they are now deemed responsible for the banter of their employees. Jobcentre Plus is a government office, paid for by me, the taxpayer.

Mr Bal has made 44 other such allegations against Jobcentre Plus, most of them were rejected by the Court but although Ms Ramjan denied suggesting the helicopter be landed on the claimant's turban, the judge ruled against the Jobcentre, and found that the comments were ‘inherently racist’
so Mr. Bal will be getting substantial compensation from me via my taxes..

Now leaving aside why state sector workers think it is proper to be larking around in the office with a toy helicpoter and leaving aside how piss poor petty and pathetic it is to go to court about such trivia, I can see another problem.

These people came to our country to better themselves. We introduced laws to prevent them being discriminated against or being racially abused yet here they are, "racially abusing" each other and laughing all the way to the bank with the proceeds. What a wretched country we have become

I'm not religious 'though nominal Church Of England and do recognise the enormous influence of the church on my cultural baggage. I get really pissed off with the white, liberal, guilt-mongering, apologist fucktards who seek to rip the Christianity out of Christmas with their poxy 'Wintervals' and 'Festivals of Light' replacing traditional Carol Festivals. What really annoys me is that they presume to speak for Moslems and those of other faiths who "might be offended" by overt displays of Christian symbolism within their host country but when you discuss this with actual members of those other faiths they are horrified and see the secularist 'wintervalites' as attacking Religion in general, including their own.

So, just to annoy them I went to the trouble of investing £14.99 in an illuminated Christmas tableaux with an explictly Christan theme; to be displayed in a window of my home that can be seen all the way down my street. An elderly lady lies on the tarmac twitching and moaning slightly. The white van man* who knocked her over is looking anxious. Several passers-by rush to offer aid and comfort while others are calling the emergency services.
Having no special skills to add I continue on my way into the local Tesco Metro and asked a familiar member of staff if they have a first aid kit as someone has been injured in their car-park. Panic flies across her face but she collars the Duty Manager with my dread news. He rushes to the plate glass window and the look of relief on his face was a wonder to behold.
"Sorry, no, we can't" were his exact words.

The injured customer was not actually on Tesco property but on the public pavement (that leads only to Tesco, nowhere else) and so she was not his responsibility, not even to the extent of offering their, no doubt fulsome, first aid kit or the use of their first aider staff member.

Neither would he have to fill out loads of Health & Safety forms or send a report to the Health & Safety Executive because she was not quite on his working premises.
About the only good thing that happpened thereafter was that the ambulance arrived pronto, less than 10 minutes.

He added that the construction crews were Chinese, convicted Chinese criminals and that at the end of their sentence they were set free as 'citizens' of Malawi. Apart from this reminding me of Britains former policy of Transportation to the colonies for felons, for which we are supposed to feel so much remorse, my interlocutor added that "The Government might say these Chinese are citizens but naturally the people don't". Now where have I heard that argument before?

2) I declined to renew my membership of the RAC because because they wanted to charge me 60% more than last year (for using their service once, just to help change a wheel at the roadside). 4 days later I got a TEXT advert from the AA offering me their services. 3) A sort of friend was telling me the other day about being threatened by her local 'friendly reassuring uniformed presence on the street' PCSO goon with an instant fine and an Anti-Social Behaviour Order
(US = Police Civilian Support Officer) for the crime of allowing her infant son to play in the street and "Criminally Damage" it by chalking on it during his play. I told her it was rubbish and to ignore him.
I coincidentally later mentioned this to an academic lawyer of my aquaintance who suggested that it was "bollox" making up the law as he goes along and that, if she had the strength and inner resources, she should go to the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) to which I concurred, plus also an appeal to our local MP who, though a fully fledged Marxist member of the former EX-socialsist regime has a remarkably good record of helping private citizens, especially if it is against "The Council".

88-year-old woman told to butt out - or be evicted

CALGARY—Friends and family of an 88-year-old

Calgary woman say the lifelong smoker is "ashamed and embarrassed" after she was told to find another place to live because her residence has gone smoke-free.

Philipina Schergevitch, who has smoked for 73 years, has been living at the Francis Klein Centre for a decade.

The centre is run by the Bishop O'Byrne Housing for Seniors Association, which banned smoking in July.

Schergevitch's daughter, Liz Daniels, said her mother is devastated over the news she has to find a new home by the end of this month as her lease isn't being renewed.

Daniels said her mother is so stressed out, she hasn't yet told her she'll be forced to move.

"Who expects to be evicted at age 88?" Daniels asked.

The association provides affordable housing for people who are functionally independent.

Daniels said her mother has been smoking since she was 15 and has tried to quit, but at age 88, it's hard. She's been smoking in her suite since she moved there in 2000.

"I understand no one likes smoking, but are these people lepers?" said Daniels. "It's not fair. These people have contributed all their lives and now they're treated like this."

To be truthful I'm more fearful of the WHO, UN, EU and our own government more than I am of terrorists, I believe we have more to fear from these and the so-called caring profession, I refer to them as the medical mafia. n reality ASH and the relent rise of anti-smoking clinics & groups that have sprung up in the last 3 years, basically are just puppets of the real master the WHO.

Recent lack of blogging due to widescreen telly/monitor going tits up last Friday, no recourse to repair shop 'till Tuesday and no likelihood of said repair (to replacement of power unit @£150.00) until early next week, managed to borrow this titchy monitor from me mate today .
On the plus side I re-discovered bedroom living as I was left with no more than my fave old TV/Vid Combo
quite handy and cut down on the heating bills as Britain was plunged back into Ice-Age winter because of climate change.

Big Society

I spent today travelling to a family reunion to celebrate my recently deceased mum. We gathered at a playing field in the small village where she and her brothers grew up. That playing field was established by their generation in the years before WW2 alongside at least 470 others throughout Britain known as the 'King George V* Fields'.

It forms the heart of the village, together with the remaining pub, railway halt and Post Office; the adjacent Victorian primary school uses it as its sports field; the village football team has its changing room/pavillion in a corner and the village hall is in the car park. It is used to hold all manner of local festivities from the Queens Jubilee to birthday parties and weddings; no doubt several generations of young lovers have benefited from the now mature oak trees that surround it.
Point being that this important local feature was not created by "The Council" but by the locals, my mum and uncles who raised the cash to buy a farmers field for the purpose, with a bit of State aid by way of the short lived "King George's Fields Foundation", half a million quid nationwide. It is now 'owned' by the village, in the trusteeship of the Parish Council, not the Local Authority who would, no doubt, love to flog it off for commuter housing.

I think DaveNick might have a point with their "Big Society".

The apparatus in the playpark would give the Righteous a fit btw, proper old fashioned swings, seesaw, big slide and cast-iron rocking horse!

How to survive a week with no Telly and no Computer; no blogger, no proper news, no games, no internet, no movies, documentaries, drama or comedy.

Got out my old TV/VHS combo that used to be in the kitchen, hooked it up to the widescreen TV (used as a monitor only) with a scart lead.

Good result, I was quite happy spending my spare time with many top movies (in their day) and some recorded documentaries (Simon Sharmas Britain, Melvyn Bragg on the English language, full series) from my brief daliance with Sky TV some few years back. I could have 'survived' probably another two to three weeks.
The most annoying part was reading bollox in the papers and not having access to contrariness.
Thanks to those who offered advice below, good to be back.

hard drive woes, from an internet cafe.

Immediatly after posting the previous post my comp crashed.
I rebooted but was then unable to log in on the windows start up screen.

Re-booting again brought up the BIOS screen with options to re-start in safe mode...( 3 other options) or 'restart windows normally'. All of which I am familiar with from problems over the years. Could not manipulate the curser so it chose the latter, re-startng normally after a 28 second countdown, started rebooting process until it recrashed halfway through (blue screen with scary message) and continued into a recuring cycle of the same.

Thought about it for a while and decide to uninstall and reinstall windows. ie reformat the drive and lose all data but hey ho. Bastard would not even let me do that (done it twice before with no problems)

Friday I took it to a small local computer company to see if they could reinstall windows for me. On Saturday they told me that "Your hard drive is fucked mate".
Fine, what do I need to do? Buy another one £45 (+£40 labour incl. inspection). but its Sat so it won't arrive till Tues, might be ready Weds.
Not complaining, I've had my monies worth with the old drive but it wasn't experiencing ANY problems until visiting that Govt website (that kept crashing, just a coincidence? Yeah, right.

Yes, I know that they haven't but three times today I have been involved in conversations with different people based on the premise that "they have scrapped Child Benefits".
Along the lines of "I didernt like the bujit, 'ow come they scrapped me child bennyfits?"

Three times I explained the difference between frozen and scrapped and they seemed quite pleased since they were relatively better off than before our conversations.

I don't deny the Holocaust, though I might question the numbers, perhaps it was even worse than the law in various countries say it was but that makes me a criminal in their eyes.

I'll probably have to visit the Sensory Garden for some Complimentary Therapy if it all gets overwhelming.

Trouble is, this is probably one of the least diverse cities in the country, apart from the university our ethnic population (excluding a fair number of east Europeans who blend in well with the locals) is something like 1-2%, mostly hard at work in catering and retailing. We don't have a Hindu temple and as I examined the background pics I noticed that the large group of cheery Asians playing tug-of-war were not at the venue advertised, indeed they were not at any local place that I recognised. The picture was probably taken in Luton.

Of course it is not free at all, it is paid for by me, the Council Tax payer and must have cost a bloody fortune and how many hours did the lazy council wasters spend on this touchy feely oh so fucking righteous nonsense?

I took a taxi today and during our journey we saw a load of bollards in the middle of the road and a gaggle of Young Persons in Hi Vis jackets together with some Transport Police. Turns out it is the County Council holding a traffic census on a road that they have seriously fucked up in recent years.

Our Young Person approached my driver, clearly recording his number plate on her hand held electrical device, and asked him for the postcode of where he had begun his journey.
Putting on his best 'pissed off taxi-driver' voice he replied "Got no idea love".

Firstly, another fail by UK Met Office, spot the typo on their website today "The current situation regarding the volcanic ash and its affects on airspace, flights and airline movement is controlled by National Air Traffic" Prize for the first to see it. Following the failed ram raid explosions at Glasgow Airport our local one blocked road access to the main terminals by planting oversized plant pots in the way, to 'enhance security' and required drivers dropping off and collecting passengers to do so within the short term parking area. Fair enough, they allowed 15 mins of "free-time" which is generally enough to drop off or collect my partner or whoever.

Now they have re-jigged it to just ten minutes (probably eight in reality) and anyone who tries the old trick of leaving just before their "free time" expires and re-entering find themselves clobbered with an immediate eye-watering charge of two fucking quid!

Tell me this APCOA, since I didn't ask to use your poxy car park but am obliged to by anti-terrorism measures, whose fault is it that I might need to wait more than ten minutes while picking up my loved ones? Shit Airport website that frequently lies about the expected arrival times of flights? Bone idle, lazy baggage handlers who can't be arsed to get their job done quickly? Overzealous customs and passport wankers suspicious that my friends might be smuggling fags* and booze in the light of disgusting tax levels?
Fucked up air traffic control that leaves planes circling for ages while they sort themselves out?

My passengers don't delay themselves and neither do I. APCOA plead the cost of running the airport car parks. Whose fault is that then? How much does it cost to run a bit of asphalt? Fucking loads if you install automatic barriers and shed loads of number recognition CCTVs and then employ blokes to sort it all out when it goes wrong.

APCOA, fleecing the public in the wake of anti-terror measures. Still, at least one good thing comes out of the Icelandic Volcano Horror, APCOA will be getting fuck all income from their rip-off carparks for few days.

Back when I were a lad eggs were a staple food dished up daily in a variety of fashions, fried, coddled, scrambled, boiled or poached and promoted in a series of TV ads featuring Tony Hancock using the slogan "Go To Work On An Egg".

Allotment Terror

Allotments were introduced to Britain during WW1 (1914-18 UK) as a way of encouraging residents to grow their own food and thus aid the war effort but were so popular that they have continued in use ever since. Not only did they help the economically challenged feed their families, they also preserved a tenuous link with the land for the urban masses and gave grandad a small space to retreat to away from the Mrs. and screaming children, pottering around in his shed.

Some twonk from The Council was on local radio the other day poncing on about how, in the name of greenery and sustainability, they were doubling the number of "families" that would benefit from access to allotments, no doubt to meet the target of some exciting new government initiative or other.

So I got chatting with an allotment holder who told me that The Council were indeed doubling the number of those with access to allotments, not by increasing the amount of public land available but by turning one allotment into two whenever any were passed on, ie no net gain. No surprises so far in this land of smoke and mirrors.

The plot thickens; this halving/doubling policy started with allotments passed on by death or voluntary surrender by the allotment holders but then The Council started issuing Allotment Plans which specified what could and could not be done with allotments and woe betide any who defied them, allotment seized and redistributed to their servile favorites in a brutal campaign clearly copied from Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Allotment holders now find themselves spied upon to ensure that the specified proportion of land is given over to fruit, veg, flowers or whatever. This simple and useful pastime has been reduced to nazi serfdom in an atmosphere of fear and denunciation where the rebellious few who dare grow nasturtiums, which are flowers but can be eaten, or bamboo, an ornamental crop that is also an economic one, are mercilessly thrown off their land and condemned to the tender mercies of Tesco and Costcutter in a terror campaign akin to the destruction of the prosperous peasants or Kulaks in Soviet Russia, Joe Stalin would have been proud.
